ARMACAO DOS BUZIOS, BRAZIL

Aramacao Dos Buzios is called by everyone as just Buzios. It is a resort town just 2 hours drive from Rio where the rich and famous have vacation homes.

Buzios was just a simple fishing village until Bridgette Bardot came here in the 60’s with her Brazilian boyfriend to get away from the crowds of Rio. Soon everyone showed up and Buzios has never been the same again.

We arrived to see another cruise ship in the harbor. It was a Costa ship with 3,000 people aboard…. that makes for a tight walk along the sidewalks.

The seafront avenue is lined with upscale shops and restaurants, and scattered throughout are these really cool life-sized sculptures of people.

I escorted a tour around the town, thinking that it would be over within an hour or so, but the driver took us out to viewpoints outside of the basic town and through some very exclusive neighborhoods. From below you would never know that there was so much more to this town.

It was really lovely, not as lovely as other resort towns that we have been through, but very cool and with some very innovative shops.

These are the Brazilians and what they look like today!  So not like the “glam shots” we always see advertising Brazil and their great beaches! No inhibitions here, that’s for sure!

We even ran into some wild horses just grazing by the side of the road.
